Histapharm – Innovative Enzyme Technology for Gastrointestinal Health

Technology & New Patent Application (2026)

Histapharm Inc., a Canadian biotechnology company, is advancing a new patent application program in 2026, expanding its proprietary plant-derived Diamine Oxidase (DAO) and Catalase technology toward innovative formulations and potential therapeutic applications.

The platform builds upon an established intellectual property portfolio, including US Patent 9,878,020 and European Patent EP 2 694 098, covering innovative enzyme formulations.

How the Technology Works

Unlike conventional antihistamines, which block histamine receptors, DAO enzymatically degrades excess histamine. Catalase complements DAO by breaking down hydrogen peroxide generated during histamine degradation.

This dual-enzyme approach is designed to support the physiological regulation of histamine while addressing oxidative stress associated with the enzymatic reaction.

Scientific Evidence

The technology is supported by published laboratory research and preclinical animal studies. Experimental models of intestinal inflammation have demonstrated encouraging results with the combined DAO + Catalase formulation, including improved histological indicators of intestinal mucosal recovery.

Independent Intellectual Property Valuation

In 2025, InTraCoM GmbH (Germany), an independent intellectual property valuation specialist, assessed Histapharm's existing patent family and estimated:

  • US$29.6 million: Risk-adjusted present value.
  • US$135 million: Potential licensing value.

These figures represent model-based estimates under the report's assumptions, not realized revenues or an acquisition price. The new 2026 patent application was not included in this valuation.

Two Commercialization Pathways

1. Pharmaceutical-Grade Products

Development of innovative enzyme-based formulations for gastrointestinal inflammatory conditions. Opportunities include pharmaceutical licensing, formulation optimization, clinical development, and strategic partnerships.

2. Nutraceutical and Dietary Supplements

In parallel, Histapharm is exploring a dietary-supplement pathway for plant-derived DAO-based digestive-health products. This may provide an earlier route to commercialization, subject to safety, manufacturing, regulatory validation, and compliant product claims.

Partnership Opportunities

Histapharm seeks international partners for technology licensing, joint development, sponsored research, strategic investment, manufacturing partnerships, or potential acquisition.

We welcome discussions with pharmaceutical companies, nutraceutical manufacturers, specialty ingredient suppliers, and corporate innovation teams.

Detailed scientific documentation, patent information, and the independent valuation report are available during confidential due diligence.

About Histapharm

Histapharm Inc. is a Canadian biopharmaceutical research company that has developed a patented bi-enzymatic platform designed to regulate histamine levels by degrading excess histamine directly in the gut. The company’s therapeutic approach uses a combination of vegetal diamine oxidase (vDAO) and catalase, which is formulated for intestinal delivery. This mechanism aims to address the root cause of histamine-related issues by catabolizing histamine molecules, offering an alternative to traditional antihistamine technologies that primarily function by blocking histamine receptors.

This platform is intended to support the development of novel therapeutics for conditions linked to histamine excess or dysfunctions associated with DAO inhibition, such as inflammation, inflammatory bowel diseases, allergies, and various enteric diseases. By targeting histamine degradation rather than receptor suppression, Histapharm seeks to provide solutions for patients suffering from chronic histamine-related symptoms. The company has engaged in strategic partnerships, such as those with Devonian Health Group, to facilitate the manufacturing and development of its proprietary botanical drug candidates for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.
