A novel platform utilizing metagenomics to mine antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) from oral bacteria, formulated as postbiotics in oral care products to treat gingivitis. This targeted approach restores ecological balance without harming beneficial bacteria.
This innovative solution leverages a cutting-edge platform that utilizes metagenomics to identify and extract antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) from oral microbiota. These AMPs are then used as heat-inactivated postbiotics in toothpaste or mouthwash formulations to effectively treat gingivitis. By targeting specific pathogenic bacteria while preserving beneficial ones, this approach provides a novel method to restore and maintain oral health without disrupting the microbiome balance.
Currently at TRL 3, this solution has been validated in laboratory settings and is undergoing further testing to prepare for regulatory approval and commercial development.
