A multi-stage triboelectric dry fractionation platform designed to produce ≥65% soy protein concentrate using defatted soy flour. It combines precision milling, dry conditioning, and electrostatic separation, enabling efficient protein enrichment without wet extraction.

Overview

The multi-stage triboelectric dry fractionation platform is an innovative solution aimed at producing high-purity soy protein concentrate from defatted soy flour. This platform achieves a protein concentration of 65-70% by leveraging a dry separation process that integrates precision fine milling, controlled dry conditioning, triboelectric charging, and high-voltage electrostatic separation. The approach minimizes water and effluent use, preserving protein functionality and reducing operating costs. The modular design supports rapid scale-up, making it suitable for commercial deployment.

Technical specifications
  • Precision fine milling: Achieves an optimal particle size distribution for effective separation.
  • Controlled dry conditioning: Maintains moisture levels between 5-7% to enhance triboelectric charging efficiency.
  • Triboelectric charging: Exploits differential surface and dielectric properties to enable selective protein enrichment.
  • Electrostatic separation: Utilizes high-voltage fields for effective separation of protein from carbohydrates.
  • Multi-pass recirculation: Allows progressive concentration through cascading separation stages.
  • Modular design: Facilitates rapid scale-up to industrial capacities of 2-5 TPH.
Technology readiness level

This platform is currently at Technology Readiness Level 4, having undergone lab and pilot optimization phases. Future validation plans include continuous pilot validation and modular scale-up to prepare for commercial deployment.
