Fruit flies are a persistent and costly problem for the fruit and vegetable industry, causing significant yield losses and quality reductions. Insecticide-impregnated baits offer a targeted approach to pest control that minimizes environmental residues while selectively attracting and killing pest insects. Currently, products like GF-120 dominate this niche, leaving growers with limited options. This research addresses the need for alternative bait formulations by leveraging newly available insecticide chemistries with diverse modes of action, expanding the toolkit available to integrated pest management programs.

The technology is not yet commercially available and requires additional formulation optimization and field validation before deployment.
