Osmotic Solution is a patented contact-herbicide technology being developed as a new physicochemical approach to weed control, initially targeting difficult-to-control Conyza spp. (horseweed/buva).
The platform is based on a proprietary acid-salt formulation architecture with an adjuvant system designed to disrupt plant tissue water balance and induce rapid loss of turgor, dehydration, tissue collapse and desiccation through contact action. Unlike herbicides that depend primarily on inhibition of a single biochemical target, the proposed mechanism is formulation-driven and physicochemical, creating potential as a complementary tool in integrated weed-management and herbicide-resistance programs.
The technology addresses a growing need for additional weed-control options as resistant populations reduce the reliability of established herbicide programs. The formulation uses widely available raw materials and conventional aqueous blending, providing a potential pathway toward scalable and cost-competitive manufacturing, subject to further validation.
Preliminary inventor-generated field observations on Conyza spp. have shown rapid visible loss of turgor, tissue darkening and plant desiccation following application. In one documented observation, substantial visible change occurred between approximately 13:25 and 17:42 on the same day. A separate project observation recorded no regrowth over 15 days when application achieved adequate coverage of stem and aerial tissues. These results are preliminary and have not yet been established through independently replicated, statistically designed efficacy trials.
The technology is protected by granted Brazilian Patent BR 102025011191-8, with international protection pursued through PCT/BR2026/050162.
The next development phase is intended to independently validate dose-response, weed spectrum, resistant-biotype performance, regrowth, formulation stability, field efficacy, environmental fate, non-target effects and cost per treated hectare. Priority screening includes Conyza spp. and other economically important weeds where a contact physicochemical mechanism may provide value.
We are seeking crop-protection partners for licensing, co-development, sponsored research, greenhouse and field trials, formulation optimization, regulatory development and strategic investment. Detailed formulation information and unpublished technical data can be shared under an appropriate confidentiality agreement.
