Overview

The proposed solution is a polarization imaging device that attaches to smartphones, designed for visualizing dental plaque. By utilizing LED illumination and compatible with most smartphones, it allows users to capture and analyze images of their teeth, enhancing daily dental care. The device is further supported by a demo software that uses deep learning to highlight plaque regions, serving as a convenient tool for oral health improvement.

Technology readiness level

The device is currently at TRL 4, indicating that it has been validated in a laboratory setting. The development of in vitro dental plaque models and imaging systems are underway, with plans for further prototype optimization and testing.
