Company

Innovative seed treatment using Sanzone™ polymer to enhance fungicide efficacy against Fusarium virguliforme in soybeans, providing protection without impacting germination.

Overview

The Sanzone™-enhanced seed coating represents a breakthrough in agricultural biotechnology, specifically targeting the control of Fusarium virguliforme, the pathogen responsible for Sudden Death Syndrome in soybeans. This innovative solution employs Tecrea's Sanzone™ polymer to encapsulate common fungicides like fludioxonil and metalaxyl-M, enhancing their retention and efficacy. The formulation is designed to be versatile, safe to handle, and applicable through both manual and mechanical methods, ensuring robust protection without compromising seed germination.

Technical specifications
  • Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial: Sanzone™ polymer demonstrates potent antimicrobial properties effective against Fusarium spp.
  • Synergistic Effects: Complexation with fungicides enhances their efficacy, providing a synergistic antifungal effect.
  • Improved Retention: As a cationic polymer, Sanzone™ binds effectively to the negatively charged seed surface, reducing environmental run-off and ensuring prolonged protection.
  • Versatile Formulation: Capable of incorporating various fungicides using Tecrea’s proprietary excipients, maintaining cost-effectiveness and ease of application.
  • Safe Handling: Designed for safe use with standard personal protective equipment (PPE).
Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 6, the Sanzone™-enhanced seed coating has undergone extensive formulation and efficacy testing. Future validation plans include optimizing the formulation, conducting antimicrobial efficacy tests, assessing germination effects, and performing both lab and field trials to demonstrate comprehensive protection against fungal infections.
