The Biomechanics and Medical Devices Lab at the University of Texas at Tyler is equipped to assist in study design, performance, and analysis for whole body biomechanics in man and animals.

Human Biomechanics: The Lab can assist in the development of marker sets, biomechanical models, and study parameters to evaluate human performance, medical or wellness devices, or pre-post intervention performance changes. We can also perform (at UT Tyler, or other sites in Texas with our regional partners) motion capture studies on behalf of sponsors both for research and clinical studies. Lastly we can assist you with analyzing your existing motion capture data. While motion capture is often sold as a magic black box that directly produces meaningful biomechanical measurements, the reality is often that significant expertise, time, and effort is required to get impactful results from motion capture data; we can help with that.

Animal Biomechanics: The Lab are experts in performing motion capture studies on animal models, especially sheep, but also dogs and other animals. Adding motion capture to a preclinical animal study can increate the fidelity and quantity of biomechanical data that you can capture as endpoints of a study, enabling a richer assessment of the biomechanical effects of implanted devices, therapeutics, or surgical interventions. We can help you design, perform, and analyze, such studies, and connect you to world class clinical veterinary partners.
