Universidad de Puerto Rico

Universidad de Puerto Rico is a large, comprehensive public research university system with 11 campuses across the island and a broad academic, research, clinical, and public-service mission. Its distributed structure gives corporate R&D teams access to specialized facilities, graduate talent, and research capabilities in multiple Puerto Rican communities. The university maintains partnerships with private companies, government agencies, and the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, creating pathways for collaborative research and workforce development. Research is supported by competitive federal funding, especially from NIH and NSF, with additional opportunities through NASA and DOE. A centralized Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer manages disclosures, patenting, licensing, commercialization, and collaboration agreements across the system.
