University of Ruhuna

University of Ruhuna is a comprehensive public research university and the Southern Province’s principal academic hub, with ten faculties across campuses in Matara, Kamburupitiya, and Galle. Its multi-site structure places research and training close to agricultural, coastal, marine, engineering, and clinical settings, supporting field validation, testing, and translation with regional relevance. A formal technology-transfer office evaluates intellectual property and promotes patenting, licensing, and partnerships with Sri Lankan and international companies. Research is supported by competitive national funding from Sri Lanka’s National Science Foundation and National Research Council, alongside university and international programs.
