VCU Health, which includes an 820-bed hospital and a 600-physician faculty practice, provides a large-scale clinical environment where industry partners can engage in translational research and clinical trials. The Virginia BioTechnology Research Park, a joint initiative of VCU, the City of Richmond, and the Commonwealth, houses more than 60 life science companies and research institutes adjacent to campus. A Health Innovation Consortium connects faculty, the VCU Health system, and Richmond’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to move innovations from concept through commercial viability. Over the past decade, VCU inventors have launched more than 60 startups and brought over 54 products to market.
