Experimental research in the development of cold atmopsheric pressure plasma to inactivate pathogens and treat food products and processing surfaces
About
Our team has developed a number of cold plasma sources for pathogen inactivation including small a plasma scalpel, small 2.4 cm x 2 cm planar arrays, large 10 cm x 10 cm planar arrays, radially inward arrays, and radially outward arrays. We are developing systems that will be translated for industrial use in food processing including plasma drivers and controllers, exhaust capture systems, and cooling methods. Our work has demonstrated pathogen (bacterial biofilms, viruses, fungi) inactivation on surfaces and on products such as crop seeds.
