Background

We are a global food and nutrition company with active research and development programs focused on formulation science and scalable food applications. Creatine is a well-studied functional ingredient recognized for its role in energy metabolism and physical performance, with strong consumer awareness and a long history of use in dietary supplements.

While creatine is most commonly consumed as a powder dissolved in water and ingested immediately, growing interest exists in expanding its use into a wider range of food formats. The functionality, stability, and consumer experience of bioactive ingredients such as creatine can be influenced by formulation context, delivery format, and food matrix, including factors such as water activity, phase behavior, processing conditions, and interactions with other components.

There is an opportunity to explore innovative ways to incorporate creatine across a range of food and beverage formats, including liquids, semi-solids, and structured systems. Expanding the formulation approaches used to deliver creatine could enable new product concepts and improve consumer experience while maintaining its functional benefits.

What we're looking for

We are looking for novel approaches to incorporate creatine into food or beverage products in ways that preserve its functional benefits and enable scalable manufacturing. Solutions may focus on formulations, delivery systems, or food matrices that enhance stability, usability, or product performance.

Solutions of interest include:
  • Beverage formulations or ingredient systems incorporating creatine
  • Food-based or semi-solid formats (e.g., gels, dairy, spoonable or structured products)
  • Formulation or matrix-based strategies that influence stability or functionality
  • Encapsulation, complexation, or delivery approaches applicable to food or beverage systems
  • Processing or formulation methods that improve ingredient performance
Our must-have requirements are:
  • Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS status) or a clearly defined and credible pathway to GRAS approval
  • Maintains creatine functionality within the proposed formulation or matrix
  • Potential for translation to food manufacturing contexts
Our nice-to-have's are:
  • Improved stability or functionality
  • Positive or neutral impact on sensory properties
  • Flexibility across different food categories or formats
Acceptable technology readiness levels (TRL):
Levels 3-9
